Cuba to Host International Event on Geriatrics and Gerontology

Havana, Cuba.- Aging and surgery for the elder are some of the topics to be discussed during the GERONTOGER 2008 international event that will take place in Havana on September 16-19.
During the meeting, organized by the Cuban Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, national and foreign experts will exchange experiences that will contribute to the development of researches on the old age.
Representatives from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Latin American Academy of the Elder will offer lectures on topics such as disabilities and the need for a new approach in geriatric assessment.
Gerontology is the area of knowledge that studies the aging process while Geriatrics is a branch of medicine that studies disease prevention, healing and rehabilitation of the elder. (acn)
