Energy
Program Improves the People’s Quality of Life
21 Julio, 2008
Holguín, Cuba.- The
energy programs implemented in the country since 2005
have significantly contributed to the quality of life
of the population of this eastern province, of over
one million inhabitants.
Such results can be corroborated by the fact that
nearly all households in Holguin use electric appliances
to cook their meals. Over 1, 163 million electric
pots were distributed in the province, said Carlos
Hidalgo, who heads the energy department of the Electric
Enterprise.
The improvement of the electricity distribution network
allowed to save 6, 369 megawatt-hour, while the total
consumption between January and June kept below schedule.
Hidalgo pointed out that the replacement of 495 pumping
equipments in high buildings and state entities has
helped save 3, 794 kilowatt-hour, while the replacement
of electric bulbs continues, although with some delay
in state facilities. (acn)
