Cuban University Receives International Certification

Bayamo, Cuba.- In recognition of the high-quality training offered in the Agronomy curriculum at the University of Granma, degrees issued in this major will receive international accreditation.
Esmeralda Gomez, the professor heading Agronomy, said the endorsement granted by the national accreditation board of the Ministry of Higher Education, will contribute to the quality of agricultural management and training in the country.
The official accreditation recognizes the impact of the scientific projects developed by the Faculty of Agronomy over the last 30 years, involving more than 4,500 graduates in the agricultural development of the eastern province. It also acknowledges the contribution to their countries of nearly 100 foreign graduates from more than 20 nations.
Founded in 1976, the Higher Institute of Agricultural and Cattle Raising Sciences currently has more than 26,000 students enrolled in 12 specialties, 5 of them taught in municipality-based faculties. (acn)
